Advitech has brought some great new talent on board recently. Two highly experienced engineers have joined us as we build our capability to help our clients tackle the big challenges of our time.
Joining Advitech as our new Structural Engineering Group Leader is Guy Douglas. Guy has nearly 30 years’ experience in all types of structural engineering, including new builds and upgrades of multi-story commercial and residential buildings, shopping centres, mining infrastructure and hospitals. He has conducted numerous site and building inspections, including the design and site construction phase of a 60-storey tower building in Sydney. Guy has structural expertise in the analysis and design of structural steel, reinforced and post-tensioned concrete and timber.
Guy has a varied and interesting work history, having started work as an apprentice plumber. He then moved on to structural draughting on both drawing-board and computer CAD and later completed a diploma in mechanical engineering, followed by at BE in structural engineering. Guy loves the mental gymnastics involved in engineering and he is always excited to meet clever, industrious and passionate people along the way.
Also joining Advitech recently is Martin Belk as Senior Environmental Engineer. Martin is an Air Quality Specialist, focused on Air Quality and Odour Impact Assessments.
Martin began his work life as a Trainee Chemical Engineer at the BHP Newcastle Steelworks and studying part time at the University of Newcastle, achieving Honours in his Chemical Engineering Degree. In the last two years of his traineeship he worked as a supervisor/metallurgist in the Steelmaking Department, directly involved in the making and treating of steel.
He then moved on to Environmental Consulting and gained invaluable experience especially air assessments, particularly air monitoring across Australia and New Zealand. He has over 20 years’ experience in all types of Air Assessments for a broad range of clients.
He also has expertise in SEPP 33 work (Risk Screening and Preliminary Hazard Analysis); and Process and Environmental Engineering. Notable and recently completed projects include aircraft emission impacts from a proposed Helipad at Nelson Bay, and an air assessment of a crushing plant at Teralba.
Martin is passionate about building Air Quality capabilities for Advitech including and establishing and developing effective customer relationships in order to help clients achieve their goals. Martin relishes the challenge of finding innovative ways to help customers.
Guy and Martin bring a wealth of experience and enthusiasm to our team and we’re very excited to see the benefits they will bring to our clients, both established and new.
